International Telecommunications

Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth, PLC. attorneys are actively involved in efforts to harmonize and modernize global regulatory structures. This expertise and familiarity with international and foreign telecommunications regulation enables the firm to assist clients at the international level.

We previously have assisted in the State Department and the FCC in preparing and promoting U.S. positions at proceedings of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), including numerous World Radio Conferences (WRCs). In the State Department-organized advisory committee meetings preceding WRCs, our attorneys have assisted in developing many of the U.S. positions to be presented in Geneva.

A former Assistant Secretary of State (and former U.S. Ambassador), who had overall responsibility for diplomatic telecommunications globally, serves as consultant to the firm for international and intergovernmental affairs.

We provide the background and contacts needed to assist clients in obtaining authorizations and negotiating agreements necessary to provide transborder and international satellite and terrestrial services. In addition, the firm is able to assess the significance of telecommunications and broadcast developments worldwide, particularly in Japan and the Pacific Rim, Latin America, the Middle East, and in the emerging integrated European economy.
